OUR APPROACH

Our approach to estate planning is unique because we have found that traditional estate planning does not work. Traditional planning focuses on preparing documents, tucking them away to collect dust and maybe updating the plan every ten years or so. That approach may allow you to check off the item on your bucket list that says, “Get an estate plan,” but estate planning should, and can be, so much more.

The traditional approach does not lead to true peace of mind that all will be in order when death comes. Why? Because:

  • Estate planning clients rarely understand what is in their estate documents
  • It provides no systematic way of keeping your estate plan current
  • It provides no education to update you and your family about new laws, IRS regulations and planning techniques
  • You have a disincentive to even return to your lawyer to update your estate plan, because you know that when you do, you will be charged a lot more money.

The byproduct is an estate plan that is out of date, not reflective of your current wishes, not understandable to you or your family members, and deficient in tracking your assets. To top it off, it leads to an estate that often costs the family 3-4 times more to settle than necessary.

We provide a refreshing alternative to traditional planning by treating estate planning as a process, not a one- time transaction.

IT IS CALLED “THREE STEP” PLANNING THAT CONSISTS OF:

1

1

1

Providing excellent and innovative counseling to create your estate plan, as well as ensuring our trust clients have their trust properly funded.

2

1

1

Ongoing maintenance plan that, among other things, apprises you of the most recent laws, regulations and techniques, allows you to make as many changes as you wish, and teaches your family members how to participate in the process.

3

1

3

A streamlined system of settling your estate that greatly reduces the cost of formal settlement.
